Our history & founding story

The concept of the Food for Good program stemmed from recognizing a significant gap in the food service industry – the lack of a bulk ordering system in multiple vendors in one single order that provided personalized options to address every client’s specific needs. This gap particularly affected schools, which struggled to provide food services to their students in a manageable and efficient way, often leading to limited options and high costs.
Teachers and administrative staff are overburdened with the task of coordinating with multiple food providers, which significantly impacts their ability to focus on their primary responsibilities of educating students. Additionally, schools face difficulties in recruiting enough student and parent volunteers to assist with the program, especially during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which added to the workload of the staff.
In response to this challenge, the Food for Good program was created to provide a comprehensive food program that would alleviate the logistical challenges schools face in providing food to students. The aim of the program was to develop a solution that would not only make it easier for schools to provide meals to students but also improve the quality of the food offered. The team aimed to ensure that students had access to nutritious meals that would support their growth and development.
The idea of providing a platform for fast, touchless, hot meals distribution of individually labeled meals directly to students by classrooms was born. This solution would streamline the process, and schools would no longer have to manage different food contracts and logistics every single day.
More About Us
Launched in September 2022, a proof-of-concept approach was utilized to test the feasibility of a food order and delivery service through an E-commerce website, Food for Good. Four schools participated in the pilot program, which grew to 13 participating schools. The team was able to prove the concept of the technology and outline its processes.
From the selection, labeling, packaging, and delivery, the team made it easy for the partner food vendor to carry out their business and meet the demands of the clients. The program was met with enthusiasm and support from school administrators, parents, and students.
Through our grassroots approach, the importance of cultural diversity and inclusion was recognized. Teachers and administrators tended to rely on one or two vendors, resulting in a lack of diversity in the menu, and we aim to change that.
A real-life situation when the program rolled out at one of our schools a young Indian boy who tried taco for the first time and declared it his favorite food after asking about the origin of the food fuelled our vision to promote cultural understanding and appreciation by expanding our menu.
The goal of the program was to provide schools with a food provider that could offer a broader range of food options, including meals from different cultures, to encourage cultural diversity and inclusion among students. The team behind the Food for Good program believes that food has the power to bring people together and foster a sense of community, and it wants to harness this power to create a more inclusive environment for all students.
